Many Ethiopian and Foreigner citizens have been contributing their offers to help prevent cancer and help cancer victims get the right treatment by donating to our society. You can be one among the others to help our society. Below are some of the recent donations.


Community Collaboration

The fifth Terry Fox Cancer Walk program was held on October 1, 2016 at International
Community School, the most renowned & expensive school in Ethiopia. The program is
intended to honor the great Terry Fox, Canadian cancer hero & raise fund for selected pediatric
cancer patients supported by Mathiwos Wondu-YeEthiopia Cancer Society. On behalf of our
society, Mathiwos Wondu-YeEthiopia Cancer Society and its beneficiaries, we would like to
sincerely thank Simon, his ICS team & H.E.Excellency Ambassador Philip Baker Canadian
Ambassador to Ethiopia, Djibouti & the African Union for organizing & actively participating in
the fifth Terry Fox Cancer Walk Program.

The two pediatric cancer patients they have been supporting for the last four years are
responding very well to their treatment.Lidya is now doing fine & attending her school. Tariku,
who they have been supporting for the last two years, responding very well to his treatment,
attending class & promoted to fourth grade in his home town Bedele, South West of Ethiopia.
Thanks to their support, we have managed to cover cost of Tariku’s treatment & able to give him
500Birr per month so that he will be more motivated in his treatment & education.

Terry Fox intended to raise fund for pediatric cancer patients.

As usual, for this year is to support Abayeneh Beresaw, ten years boy with ALL
Leukemia/blood cancer/ from Amhara region, Debere Markos City, Mechekel Kebele, who has
been responding very well & he has been under treatment for the last 8 months here at Black
Lion Hospital.

The staffs at Mathiwos Wondu-YeEthiopia Cancer Society/MWECS/ thank ICS for their
continued support. Our achievement to improve the lives of cancer patients and families in
particular were made possible by their generous support and involvement. We thank them for
their commitment to the fight against cancer. We wish them and their loved ones a happy,
healthy holiday season. We look forward to working with them in the future again in our efforts
intended to decrease the suffering of cancer patients and increase their survival rate.


Mrs. Abigail Belay and the Araya Sellassie Family Donated Clothes and medicines estimated to be 13,935.00 Birr

Mathiwos Wondu-YeEthiopia Cancer Society would like to sincerely thank Mrs. Abigail Belay and the Araya Sellassie Family for donating different clothes and few medicines intended to your late Mother W/o Sergut Araya Sellassie treatment who passed away due to Triple Negative Breast cancer.

All Clothes and medicines donated will be handed over to the Black Lion Hospital and will be used to treat pediatric and women cancer patients and the remaining will be used at MWECS Psychosocial support center for the same patients.
